The announcement of the tournament dates and venues came earlier from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), bringing much-needed clarity to the cricketing calendar. The ACC managed to bridge the gap between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after a prolonged period of disagreements, ultimately settling on a hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023.
Both India and Pakistan will lock horns at the Asia Cup tournament, which will be held at a neutral venue in Sri Lanka. This tournament is not the only time they will play an ODI match. After the conclusion of this tournament, both teams will once again take on each other in the ICC 2023 Cricket World Cup in India.
Under the approved format, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will serve as the hosting nations, with Pakistan hosting four matches and Sri Lanka hosting nine. The tournament will feature two groups, each consisting of two teams. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage, where they will battle for a spot in the final.
