4 cricket events every fan can look forward to in 2025

2025 is a big year for cricket. Although major leagues have a host of exciting matchups lined up for the year, it’s the international scene you can’t afford to miss. The Women’s T20 World Cup and the Men’s Champions Trophy are all happening this year, alongside some fascinating and long-anticipated ICC matchups. Let’s look at four events in particular that should be top of your calendar this year:

Women’s ODI World Cup

Who would want to miss the Women’s World Cup? The ODI championships will be held this year between August and September, with 5 teams¾South Africa, Sri Lanka, India, Australia, and England¾ already slated to compete. The other three spots will be contested in the World Cup qualifier, and one women’s team will make it through based on their performance in the last World Cup. The event is great news for both fans of the sport and bettors, as the recent elevation of women’s sports continues to see more people bet Malawi and show interest in women’s cricket. Top sportsbooks like Betway are expected to run betting lines for the event all year, but especially in August and September.

ICC Champions Trophy

The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy tournament is finally back after eight years in limbo, and the cricket world couldn’t be more excited. Starting February 19 to March 9, eight teams will battle it out for the biggest title in cricket in Pakistan and the UAE. Previous planned events have fallen through since India’s win in 2017, mostly because of security concerns over hosting the matchups in Pakistan. However, with Pakistan finally agreeing to a hybrid model and sharing host status with Dubai, the teams are geared up and ready to go.

Asia Cup

The 2026 T20 World Cup is around the corner, and what better way to usher it in than through the Asia Cup? Also planned to take place in the UAE and India, this year’s championship will take on a T20 format and include six teams competing in 13 games. The last tournament took place in 2023, and India lifted the cup for the eighth time in a row. Automatic qualifiers Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will be looking to change that.

WTC Finals

Every two years, cricket teams from test nations test their wills against each other in a battle to secure one of two spots at the WTC Finals, the biggest event in test cricket. So far in the 2023-25 season, South Africa has planted its flag on one of those spots, leaving the other up for grabs. This year, Intense matchups will see India, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, and other teams scuffle for the final spot at the WTC finals to be held at Lord’s Form from June 11 to June 15.
