Simultaneously, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) threatened to withdraw from the ODI World Cup, which is set to be held in India later this year.

Amidst the heated exchanges, former PCB chairman Najam Sethi proposed a hybrid concept, suggesting that India could play their Asia Cup 2023 matches at a neutral location. Initially met with resistance, the ACC eventually embraced the idea in June 2023 and subsequently announced the official dates for the Asia Cup.
