Wanindu Hasaranga and Ambati Rayudu were part of the Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings, respectively, but withdrew before the tournament started. 

Five Overseas Players to Watch Out for In Major League Cricket

Major League Cricket will have several foreign or overseas players to watch out for. So, let’s look at the five overseas players bound to shine in the inaugural season.

Quinton de Kock

The South African batter has a multi-faceted personality. Quinton de Kock cannot only bat well at the top but also keep wickets and lead the side. Roped in by the Seattle Orcas, De Kock is one of the contenders for the top run scorer award. De Kock’s appearances were limited to just four in IPL 2023 season. However, he will likely set the stage on fire in Major League Cricket.

Rashid Khan

Afghanistan spin all-rounder will be an excellent addition to the inaugural season, where he would turn up for MI New York. Rashid Khan, who has been outstanding for Gujarat Titans, picked up 27 wickets in IPL 2023 season. Moreover, he is an effective lower-order batter who can give the innings the push it needs so desperately in the final five overs.

Tim David

The Singaporean-born Australian first became known for his antics in the Pakistan Super League. However, it was in IPL 2022 that he showed what he is capable of. Coming to bat in the middle order, David has few balls to settle down. But that has been his USP. He can go after the bowler right from the first ball. The right-handed batter will be an asset for the MI New York franchise.

Nicholas Pooran

Watch out for Pooran, who can be an explosive batter for MI New York. Moreover, his wicket-keeping abilities only add to his repertoire. He has proved his batting skills in the last two seasons of IPL, where he managed 358 runs and 306 runs, respectively. Like David, Pooran has proven to be a finisher on whom the team can rely. Anrich Nortje

When it comes to fast bowling, Anrich Nortje could turn out to be among the top wicket-takers in the inaugural season. In his inaugural season in IPL, he clinched  22 wickets; however, his numbers dropped, and in 2023. Nevertheless, his pace can be the separating factor in Major League Cricket.
