Bangladesh Clinch Historic T20I Series Win Over Pakistan With Eight-Run Thriller

Bangladesh scripted history on Tuesday by defeating Pakistan in the second T20I to secure their first-ever series win in the shortest format against the Men in Green. The Litton Das-led side now lead the three-match series 2-0 with one game remaining.

Pakistan opted to field first after winning the toss and made early inroads, reducing Bangladesh to 28/4. A crucial 53-run stand between Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan revived the innings. Jaker top-scored with 55 off 48 balls, including one four and five sixes, while Mahedi contributed 33 from 25 deliveries. Bangladesh was eventually bowled out for 133 in 20 overs.

Pakistanโ€™s bowling attack was led by Salman Mirza (2/17), Ahmed Daniyal (2/23) and Abbas Afridi (2/37), who shared six wickets among them.

Chasing 134, Pakistanโ€™s batting crumbled under fiery spells from Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Reduced to 47/7 by the 12th over, the visitors relied on a counter-attacking 51 off 32 balls from Faheem Ashraf, featuring four fours and four sixes, to stay alive in the contest. Ashraf stitched a 41-run partnership with Abbas Afridi (19 off 13 balls) for the eighth wicket, but Bangladeshโ€™s bowlers held their nerve.

Shoriful starred with figures of 3/17, while Tanzim (2/23) and Mahedi (2/25) chipped in as Pakistan were dismissed for 125 in 19.2 overs, falling eight runs short.

Jaker Ali was named Player of the Match for his vital half-century under pressure.
