Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Bangladesh’s participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday announced new restrictions on the entry of Bangladeshi journalists into the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
In an official statement, the BCB said the revised regulations are part of enhanced security measures being implemented at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and its surrounding premises. The board clarified that the new rules are effective immediately and will apply to everyone entering the stadium complex, including members of the media.

“As part of the ongoing security enhancement measures at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) and its surrounding premises, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wishes to advise that revised entry regulations are being introduced, which will be effective from now on,” the BCB said in its statement. “These measures will be applicable to all persons, including the media representatives, entering the stadium complex,” it added.
Under the revised arrangements, the BCB has designated Gate 1 as the exclusive entry point for all media personnel. The board further stated that journalists will only be granted access to the stadium on specific occasions, including match days, official press conferences, events held upon formal invitation from the BCB, and selected practice or training sessions that are officially communicated by the board.
The BCB urged journalists and other stakeholders to cooperate with the new regulations in the interest of safety and smooth operations. “The Bangladesh Cricket Board sincerely seeks the understanding and cooperation of all concerned to ensure the smooth implementation of these measures in the broader interest of safety, security and orderly operations at the venue and the BCB offices,” the statement said.
Members of the media are requested to note that:
a) For the Media, Gate 1 is the exclusive entry point to the SBNCS.
b) Access for the media to the SBNCS will be facilitated only on the following occasions:

– Specific Practice/Training Sessions as communicated by the BCB
This development comes shortly after the International Cricket Council replaced Bangladesh with Scotland for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to begin on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.
