Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana were named the Best International Cricketers in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the BCCI Awards 2025 on Friday. The annual ceremony, which began in 2006-07, recognizes outstanding performances in Indian cricket, with the Polly Umrigar Award for the Best International Cricketer (men) and the Best International Cricketer (women) being the most prestigious honors.
Bumrah, who also won the ICC’s Best Men’s Test Cricketer and overall Best Men’s Cricketer of the Year awards, continued his dominance by claiming the BCCI’s top prize for 2023-24. The star pacer played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup triumph, taking 15 wickets and delivering match-winning spells that earned him the Player of the Tournament title. In Tests, he finished 2024 as the highest wicket-taker globally, claiming 71 wickets in 13 matches—only behind Kapil Dev for most wickets by an Indian in a single calendar year.

This marks Bumrah’s third Polly Umrigar Award, having previously won in 2018-19 and 2021-22. He now trails only Virat Kohli, who has won it five times, while Sachin Tendulkar and Ravichandran Ashwin have each won it twice. Shubman Gill was the previous winner for the 2022-23 season.
On the women’s side, Smriti Mandhana clinched the Best International Cricketer of the Year award for the third time, adding to her wins in 2020-21 and 2021-22. She had a phenomenal year in ODIs, amassing 747 runs at an average of 57.46, including four centuries—a new record in women’s cricket. Her outstanding performances also earned her the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award earlier this year.
The Best International Debut awards were given to Sarfaraz Khan in the men’s category and Asha Sobhana in the women’s category.
Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was honored with the prestigious Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the sport. The Master Blaster remains the highest run-scorer in both Test and ODI cricket history.
