BGT 2024-2025: Team Australia prepares at Manuka Oval, Hazlewood ruled out of Adelaide Test

Team Australia conducted a practice session at Canberra’s Manuka Oval Stadium on Sunday in preparation for their warm-up match against Team India. India is currently touring Australia for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The two-day warm-up match, initially planned as a day-night encounter, faced disruptions due to persistent rain. Saturday’s play was abandoned, and the game resumed on Sunday as a 50-over format to compensate for the lost time. The warm-up match was expected to serve as crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the next phase of the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India entered the series with momentum, having delivered a stunning 295-run victory in the first Test in Perth. This win came after a challenging series against New Zealand, where India suffered a whitewash at home. Despite being bowled out for just 150 runs in their first innings in Perth, India managed an impressive comeback.

Meanwhile, Australia faces a setback with star pacer Josh Hazlewood ruled out of the upcoming day-night Test in Adelaide. According to Cricket Australia, Hazlewood sustained a “low-grade left side injury” and will remain with the squad in Adelaide to recover.

To address his absence, Australia has added Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett to the squad, though neither has yet made their Test debut. Scott Boland is expected to replace Hazlewood in the playing XI for the match, which begins on December 6 in Adelaide.
