Afghanistan has announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I leg of their tour to Bangladesh, with star spinner Rashid Khan making a return to the side. Rashid had been sidelined for the majority of the series due to fitness issues but has now regained his spot in the squad. He missed the one-off Test match, which resulted in a defeat for Afghanistan by a staggering 546 runs against Bangladesh.
In preparation for the T20I series, Afghanistan has assembled a star-studded squad that includes the likes of Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The two-match T20I series is scheduled to be played from July 14 to July 16. Prior to that, an ODI contest between the two teams will take place from July 5 to July 11. Rashid will also feature in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
While the ODI series holds significance for both teams, Bangladesh has made their squad selection with an eye on the World Cup 2023. Notably, Shakib Al Hasan will be a notable presence in the Bangladesh squad after missing the one-off Test against Afghanistan due to a finger injury sustained during the ODI series against Ireland in May earlier this year.
The first match of the ODI series is set to take place on July 5, followed by the second ODI on July 8, and the third and final match on July 11. All matches will be held at the same venue, Chattogram.
As the tour progresses, players from both teams will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and make an impact in the lead-up to the much-anticipated World Cup 2023. Cricket enthusiasts worldwide will be eagerly watching the matches unfold, anticipating enthralling performances and closely analyzing the squads’ strengths and strategies.
