Champions Win as a Team, Not Alone – Kapil Dev’s Message to Team India Ahead of Champions Trophy 2025

  • by

Former Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has extended his best wishes to Team India as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament, featuring eight teams and 15 matches, will be held across Pakistan and Dubai from February 19 to March 9. Under a hybrid model, India will play all its matches in Dubai.

Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Kapil Dev emphasized the importance of collective team performance rather than relying on individual players. “I want to wish all the luck and hope to the team. Every player is important, but when you have to win the championship, do not depend on one player. It depends on the team,” he stated.

India’s campaign in the tournament will begin against Bangladesh on February 20, followed by a highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. Their final group-stage match will be against New Zealand on March 2.

In a setback for the team, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed his absence in an official statement, announcing that Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement.

India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy, 2025:
