
The Gujarat Giants made a statement at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 Player Auction, bolstering their squad with high-profile signings and emerging talent. The franchise secured a mix of experienced international stars and promising young players, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin was the first marquee signing for the Giants, purchased for Rs 1.70 crore. Known for her explosive batting and useful bowling, Dottin brings invaluable experience from 123 T20 Internationals to the team. She will be a crucial asset at the top of the order.

Simran Shaikh emerged as the most expensive player of the day, acquired for Rs 1.90 crore. The dynamic all-rounder, who previously played nine matches in the WPL, is expected to provide firepower in the middle and lower order, along with versatility in the field.
The Giants also welcomed 23-year-old English bowling all-rounder Danielle Gibson for Rs 30 lakh. Making her WPL debut, Gibson is set to strengthen the team’s bowling attack. Rounding off the signings, leg-spinner Prakashika Naik joined the squad for Rs 10 lakh, adding depth to the bowling department.
Speaking on the auction results, Pranav Adani, Managing Director of Agro, Oil & Gas at Adani Group, praised the team’s efforts. “Our team put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and I’m delighted with the outcome. With this crucial phase behind us, we now look forward to an exciting and successful season. My best wishes to the players and coaching staff,” Adani said in a statement.
Head Coach Michael Klinger expressed satisfaction with the acquisitions, emphasizing the focus on players who could make an immediate impact. “We prioritized securing players who could break into the playing eleven. Deandra Dottin’s power with the bat and skill with the ball will be a game-changer for us,” Klinger noted.
He also highlighted Simran Shaikh’s potential. “Simran is a valuable addition. Her strike rate and ability to hit big make her a rare talent in women’s cricket. Her presence will create healthy competition among Indian batters for a spot in the team,” Klinger added.
