Gujarat Giants unveil official jersey ahead of Women’s Premier League 2025

As the third season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) approaches, the Gujarat Giants are preparing to make their home debut in Vadodara. The team officially unveiled their jersey during a press event in Ahmedabad on Thursday, attended by Head Coach Michael Klinger, players Harleen Deol and Shabnam Shakil, and Adani Sportsline’s Chief Business Officer Sanjay Adesara.

With WPL 2025 set to begin on February 14, matches will take place across multiple venues, including Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai. Speaking at the event, Head Coach Klinger outlined the team’s ambitions, emphasizing their goal of securing the championship title. He expressed confidence in the squad’s potential, highlighting the addition of new players and the growth of returning team members. Klinger noted that overseas players would soon be arriving, allowing the team to train together and prepare for the tournament. He also pointed out that several players from the Giants’ squad had gained valuable experience playing for India’s A team and senior team, which would be beneficial this season.

Harleen Deol, who missed the previous season due to injury, shared her excitement about returning to the team and playing in Vadodara, a venue that holds special memories for her. She recalled scoring her maiden century there but acknowledged the need to start fresh each game. She expressed her eagerness to make an impact in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, young pacer Shabnam Shakil, fresh off her second consecutive U19 World Cup victory with India, credited her time with the Gujarat Giants in the WPL for her growth as a player. She highlighted the valuable exposure to senior and international cricketers, which helped her improve her game, particularly during the previous season when she got the opportunity to play four matches.

Adani Sportsline’s Chief Business Officer, Sanjay Adesara, spoke about the excitement surrounding the team’s first-ever home games in Gujarat. He emphasized that the primary goal was to provide fans with an unforgettable cricketing experience, both in Gujarat and globally. He noted that playing in front of a home crowd for the first time added to the anticipation for the entire team.

Gujarat Giants will begin their WPL 2025 campaign against defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the season opener on February 14 at BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
