Gujarat Titans Appoint Vijay Dahiya As Assistant Coach Ahead Of IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans have appointed former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as Assistant Coach ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, further strengthening the franchise’s coaching staff. The announcement was made on Wednesday through an official press release.

Dahiya, a respected name in Indian cricket, represented India in 19 One Day Internationals and two Test matches during his playing career. He also had a successful domestic career with Delhi before moving into coaching roles after retirement.

As a coach, Dahiya has built a strong reputation in Indian cricket. He guided Delhi to the Ranji Trophy title during the 2007–08 season and has since worked with several domestic and IPL teams, gaining valuable experience in player development and team strategy.

His appointment comes shortly after Gujarat Titans added former Australia batting legend Matthew Hayden to their coaching staff as Batting Coach. With both additions, the franchise has significantly strengthened its coaching structure ahead of the new IPL season.

Since making their debut in the Indian Premier League in 2022, Gujarat Titans have quickly established themselves as one of the most consistent teams in the competition. The franchise won the IPL title in their inaugural season and has reached the playoffs in three of their first four seasons in the league.

With a strengthened coaching setup and a strong record in the tournament, Gujarat Titans will aim to continue their impressive performances as preparations for IPL 2026 move forward.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the schedule for the first phase of the IPL 2026 season. The first phase of the tournament will be played from March 28 to April 12.

The 19th edition of the league will begin with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. During the opening phase, a total of 20 matches will be played across 10 venues including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

The tournament will feature four double-headers during this period. Afternoon matches will begin at 03:30 PM IST, while evening matches will start at 07:30 PM IST.

Following the opening match, Mumbai Indians will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday as the new IPL season gets underway.
