
Former spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed confidence in India’s chances of securing a 2-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) with a victory in the upcoming pink-ball Test in Adelaide. Harbhajan also hopes India can achieve a hat-trick of series wins in Australia, having triumphed in the last two tours.
India’s campaign began with a historic 295-run victory over Australia in Perth, rewriting records and defying expert predictions. Harbhajan highlighted the significance of this win, saying, “To win the first Test in Perth is a big thing. I hope the Indian team plays well in the second Test and moves ahead with a 2-0 lead. It’s not easy to beat Australia in Australia, but India has shown their mettle on the last two tours.”

The second Test will be played in the day-night format, marking India’s first pink-ball Test in Adelaide since 2020. During that match, India suffered a dramatic collapse, recording their lowest-ever Test score of 36/9, and lost by eight wickets.
Four years later, India will return to Adelaide with renewed determination to maintain their series momentum. Harbhajan is optimistic about their chances, adding, “I hope India wins and makes it a hat-trick of series wins in Australia.”

While speaking at the World Tennis Cricket League pre-event conference, Harbhajan expressed his delight in giving back to cricket. He emphasized the league’s role in providing young talent from small towns and villages a platform to showcase their abilities.
“I am fortunate to give something back to cricket. Through the World Tennis Cricket League, we aim to discover talent from small towns and villages and provide them a stage to show their capabilities. I am happy to offer kids this opportunity,” Harbhajan said.
