
Hong Kong is set to make its return as a host for an ICC tournament after 14 years, with the 2025 Cricket World Cup Challenge League B scheduled to begin on February 6. This marks the first time since 2011 that the country will stage a multi-team ICC event. The last time Hong Kong hosted an ICC competition was the ICC World Cricket League Division 3, where Hong Kong, China emerged as champions by defeating Papua New Guinea by four wickets in the final.
The upcoming tournament is a significant step in the qualification pathway for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. A total of six teams—Uganda, Bahrain, Singapore, Italy, Tanzania, and hosts Hong Kong, China—will compete in 15 matches, aiming to progress in the global event’s qualification process.
