ICC Rankings: Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill Among Top ODI Batters, Mohammed Shami Climbs in Bowling Rankings

The latest ICC ODI rankings have brought significant gains for Indian players, with Virat Kohli rising to fourth place among batters, while pacer Mohammed Shami made notable progress in the bowling rankings. Axar Patel also saw a remarkable jump in the all-rounders’ list after his consistent performances in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Virat Kohli’s climb in the rankings comes on the back of his stellar performance in the Champions Trophy semi-final against Australia, where he played a match-winning knock. His performances throughout the tournament have been equally impressive, making him the third-highest run-scorer so far. With 217 runs in four innings at an average of 72.33, including a century and a fifty, Kohli has once again proved his dominance in high-pressure tournaments. His latest surge puts him on par with fellow Indian opener Shubman Gill, who continues to hold the No. 4 position in the batting rankings.

Meanwhile, Axar Patel made a big leap in the all-rounders’ rankings, climbing 17 spots to reach 13th place. His career-best rating of 194 points highlights his growing importance in India’s ODI setup. Axar’s contributions with both bat and ball in the Champions Trophy played a crucial role in India’s journey to the final, showcasing his ability to make an impact in crucial moments.

In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami’s resurgence in the Champions Trophy has seen him move up three places to 11th with 609 rating points. The veteran pacer has been instrumental in India’s campaign, picking up key wickets and maintaining his reputation as one of the most reliable seamers in world cricket.
