ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Four Teams Battle for Final Spots in Europe Qualifier

The European Qualifier for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has reached a thrilling stage with just two days and four matches remaining, as four teams remain in contention for two available spots at next year’s tournament in India and Sri Lanka. Only Guernsey has been officially eliminated, leaving Italy, Jersey, Scotland, and the Netherlands still vying for qualification.

The competition remains incredibly tight, with just one point separating the top four teams. Jersey kept their hopes alive with a strong 22-run win over Guernsey on Tuesday, a result that ended the latter’s chances of advancing. Harrison Carlyon was the standout performer for Jersey, delivering an all-round show by scoring a rapid half-century and taking two wickets. Jersey now have just one game left in the tournament — a crucial encounter against Scotland — which could be decisive for their qualification chances.

Scotland, meanwhile, bounced back in style with a narrow six-run win over the Netherlands in Voorburg, reviving their campaign. Batting first, Scotland posted 148/9, thanks to a steady half-century by Oli Hairs. In the second innings, Chris Greaves led the bowling attack with an impressive 3/26, earning him the Player of the Match award. He was supported well by Brandon McMullen, who picked up 2/33 to help Scotland defend their total successfully.

This victory pushed Scotland up to third place in the standings, with two matches still to play. Their next match against table-toppers Italy on Wednesday is expected to be pivotal in determining one of the two teams that will qualify from the European Final.
