Arch-rivals India, Pakistan to face-off at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium this October
In the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, traditional rivals India and Pakistan will face off this October at the impressive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
This much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan will mark their eighth encounter in a men’s World Cup. Pakistan, having recently broken their losing streak in the T20 World Cup, will aim to replicate this success in the 50-over format on October 15.
The history of matches between India and Pakistan at the World Cup stretches back to 1992, with subsequent meetings in 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, and 2019. The only World Cup that did not feature a clash between these two rivals was in 2007, a tournament in which both teams disappointingly failed to advance beyond the opening round.
Until recently, India has held an impressive unbeaten record in World Cup encounters against Pakistan, having won all seven previous matches, a streak that was also reflected in the T20 World Cups.
