India Seniors Clinch Physically Disabled Challengers Trophy 2024 with Thrilling Victory

India Seniors emerged victorious in the final of the Physically Disabled Challengers Trophy 2024, defeating India A by four wickets in an exciting match held at the Jaipuria Cricket Academy, Jaipur. Organized by the Rajasthan Disabled Cricket Association (RDCA) in collaboration with the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, the tournament showcased the exceptional talents of physically disabled cricketers from across the country.

The high-stakes final was also a selection ground for the Indian team that will compete in the Four Nations Quadrilateral Series in Sri Lanka from January 14, 2025, featuring teams from India, the UK, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Winning the toss, India A elected to bat first, posting an impressive total of 179/6 in 20 overs. Despite an early setback when opener Ballaram Bastia was dismissed for 12 runs, Jaffar Bhat (38 off 29 balls) and Rajesh Kannur steadied the innings with a crucial 70-run partnership. The game-changing moment came when Rajesh Kannur and Dipesh Bharti combined forces for a 152-run stand, with Kannur smashing 74 off 40 balls and Bharti contributing 36 off 18 balls. Their efforts set a challenging target for India Seniors.

In response, India Seniors put on a strong show. Surendra Kumar led the charge with a solid 56 off 41 balls, while Yogendra Bhadoria contributed a quickfire 24 off 14 balls. However, it was Vikash Yadav who stole the spotlight. Coming in late, he played a blistering knock of 55 runs off just 19 balls, guiding India Seniors to a thrilling victory with a total of 181/6 in 19.3 overs. Yadavโ€™s extraordinary performance earned him the Player of the Match title.

Vikash Yadav was also named Player of the Tournament, receiving a cash prize of โ‚น5000. Rajesh Kannur won the Batter of the Tournament award, Shanmugham was declared Bowler of the Tournament, and Yogendra Bhadoria took home the Fielder of the Tournament accolade.
