International Masters League set to begin on February 22 with Tendulkar vs Sangakkara clash

The much-anticipated International Masters League (IML) is set to kick off on February 22, 2025, with cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara leading their respective teams in the opening match. The tournament, featuring six teams representing India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies, promises to bring back old rivalries in an exciting format.

Scheduled for prime-time action, all matches will begin at 7:30 pm, offering cricket fans an opportunity to witness some of the greatest players in the game relive their competitive spirit. The opening fixture will see Tendulkar’s Indian side take on Sangakkara’s Sri Lankan team, setting the stage for a thrilling start to the league.

Speaking about the league, Tendulkar expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the field alongside his former teammates and opponents. “The IML will be a celebration of cricket’s unique and enduring legacy. I can’t wait to step back onto the field with my contemporaries in a league that will be intense and competitive, with all the teams playing hard, but fair,” he said in an IML press release.

Sangakkara echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of the tournament for both players and fans. “The IML is a tribute to cricket’s timeless charm. The tournament will be broadcast live on Disney+ Hotstar via JioStar, along with Colors Cineplex (SD & HD) and Colors Cineplex Superhits, ensuring wide coverage for cricket fans around the world.
