After the injury Rishabh Pant, David Warner is all set to captain the Delhi Capitals side in IPL 2023 this year. After Sunrisers Hyderabad chose not to retain Warner, he entered the 2022 IPL auction with a base price of ₹2 crores as one of the marquee players. Shikhar Dhawan, the opening batsman for India, has been named as the new skipper of Punjab Kings, replacing Mayank Agarwal for the 2023 edition. Dhawan was selected as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad team prior to the start of the 2013 Champions League Twenty20 tournament. He was later replaced by Darren Sammy as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2014 Indian Premier League.
