The Jaffna Titans showcased an impressive performance on a rain-affected second day of the Lanka T10 Super League, defeating the Colombo Jaguars by 40 runs at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. This emphatic win earned the Titans two valuable points in the tournament.
Jaffna Titans’ formidable total of 138/6 in their 10 overs was spearheaded by their dynamic batting duo, Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka. Mendis set the tone with a brisk 37 off 19 balls, while Asalanka took charge with a dazzling knock of 56 off just 24 deliveries, hitting five sixes and five fours. Their partnership ensured the Titans posted a challenging target for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars’ bowling attack was led by skipper Angelo Mathews and pacer Ali Khan, who both claimed two wickets each, but they struggled to contain the aggressive Titans’ batting lineup.
In their chase, the Colombo Jaguars faltered under pressure from the Titans’ disciplined bowling attack. Young spinner Treveen Mathew stole the spotlight, delivering an exceptional spell of 3/18 in two overs. His sharp turn and control proved too much for the Jaguars, who managed only 98/6 in their allotted overs. Regular wickets and a lack of momentum plagued the Jaguars’ innings, sealing their defeat.
Earlier in the day, rain played spoilsport in two other matches. The opening fixture between Kandy Bolts and Nuwara Eliya Kings was called off after just 3.3 overs, with the Bolts scoring 38/1. Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka looked promising, remaining unbeaten on 26 off 11 balls before play was interrupted.
The second scheduled match, between Galle Marvels and Hambantota Bangla Tigers, was abandoned without a toss due to persistent rain.
