Jasprit Bumrah added another remarkable chapter to his illustrious career on Friday by surpassing the legendary Kapil Dev to become India’s leading bowler with the most five-wicket hauls in away Tests. The feat came during a fiery spell at Lord’s on the second day of the third Test against England, where Bumrah claimed his maiden five-for at the iconic venue.
Returning to the playing XI after missing the second Test, Bumrah delivered a sensational performance under the hot London sun. His devastating spell saw him finish with figures of 5 for 74 in 27 overs, taking his tally to 13 five-wicket hauls in away Tests. He broke Kapil Dev’s long-standing record of 12 five-fors, which the Indian great had achieved in 66 overseas matches. With this achievement, Bumrah also moved ahead of Anil Kumble, who had 10 five-fors in 69 away Tests.
