West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the first Test against Australia at Kensington Oval, Barbados. The sanction stems from an incident on Day 1, when Seales made a gesture towards the dressing room after dismissing Australian captain Pat Cummins.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the act was found to be in violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”

Seales, speaking after the day’s play, described the gesture as a moment of frustration. “It did not really mean anything. Pat hit a couple of good shots off me and I just showed him where the dressing room was—there wasn’t really anything in it,” he clarified.
In addition to the financial penalty, Seales received one demerit point, his second in a 24-month period, taking his total to two. The 22-year-old has continued to make headlines for his on-field performance as well, playing a key role in keeping the West Indies competitive against the reigning World Test Championship runners-up.
On Day 2, Seales claimed his sixth wicket of the match by bowling Josh Inglis for 12, as Australia finished the day at 92/4, holding an 82-run lead. Earlier, the West Indies had clawed their way back into the contest with a 67-run sixth-wicket partnership between Shai Hope (48) and captain Roston Chase (44), securing a narrow 10-run first-innings lead.
With the match delicately balanced heading into Day 3, and Australia relying on Travis Head (13*) and Beau Webster (19*) to build their lead, Seales and the Caribbean pace attack will once again be key to the hosts’ chances of pulling off an upset.
