Jayden Seales stuns with record-breaking 4-wicket haul in 2nd Test against Bangladesh

West Indies pacer Jayden Seales has achieved a stunning feat with four-wicket haul during Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh at Sabina Park, Kingston. The 23-year-old delivered a masterclass, achieving the best economy rate in men’s Test cricket since 1978.

Seales bowled an extraordinary 16-over spell, conceding just five runs and claiming four wickets at an economy rate of 0.30. This remarkable performance broke the previous record held by India’s Umesh Yadav, who registered an economy rate of 0.42 with figures of 3/9 in 2015.

After opting to bat first, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum, managing only 164 runs in their first innings. Shadman Islam top-scored with a resilient 64 off 137 balls, including five fours and a six. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed 36 runs, while Shahadat Hossain Dipu chipped in with a patient 22. However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered against a disciplined West Indies attack.

Seales spearheaded the bowling unit with his historic spell, while Shamar Joseph supported with three wickets. Kemar Roach and Alzarri Joseph added two and one wicket, respectively, to restrict the visitors to a modest total.

In their first innings, West Indies openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Mikyle Louis began cautiously, putting up a 25-run partnership. Nahid Rana provided Bangladesh with an early breakthrough by dismissing Louis.

At stumps on Day 2, West Indies were in a solid position at 70/1, with Brathwaite unbeaten on 33 off 115 balls and Keacy Carty on 19 off 60 balls.
