CSA is now working to identify a replacement, with the appointment of a new white-ball batting coach expected to be announced soon. If a suitable candidate isn’t found in time, Imraan Khan, a member of the coaching staff since South Africa’s Test tour of Bangladesh, could be asked to step in for the upcoming home series against Pakistan, which begins on December 10.
Duminy was initially set to be part of South Africa’s coaching staff during their unbeaten run to the T20 World Cup final earlier this year but had to leave before the tournament due to personal reasons. In September, he took up the role of head coach for the ILT20 franchise Sharjah Warriorz.
It remains unclear how Duminy’s departure will impact South Africa’s preparations, but CSA will aim to ensure continuity in their coaching structure as they approach key fixtures.
