Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2023

Gujarat Titans’ batter Kane Williamson has been ruled out from the Indian Premier League due to a knee injury sustained during the IPL campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

The team shared an update on Williamson’s injury via Twitter, expressing their regret and wishing him a quick recovery, with the hope of his early return.

We regret to announce, Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2023, after sustaining an injury in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings. We wish our Titan a speedy recovery and hope for his early return.

Vikram Solanki shared his thoughts in a press release, stating, “It is sad to lose Kane to injury so early in the tournament. We wish him a speedy recovery, with the hope of seeing him in action very soon.”

Williamson will return to New Zealand for further assessment, and the Gujarat Titans will soon announce a replacement for the right-handed batter.

The injury occurred when Williamson attempted to prevent the ball from crossing the boundary for a six. He landed awkwardly and appeared to have injured himself in the process.

Forced to leave the field, Sai Sudarshan stepped in as the impact player. Despite this setback, the Gujarat Titans managed to defeat the Chennai Super Kings and secure a 5-wicket victory in their IPL campaign opener.
