Karun Nair (Vidarbha) enjoyed a dream season, making a strong case for a national recall with 863 runs in nine matches. His average of 53.93, along with four centuries and two fifties, showcased his consistency. His best knock of 135 came in the final, putting Vidarbha on course for victory.
Danish Malewar (Vidarbha) made a name for himself in the knockout stages, scoring a crucial half-century in the semifinal against Mumbai before delivering a century and a fifty in the final. He ended the season with 783 runs in nine matches at an average of 52.20, including two centuries and six fifties. His knocks of 153 and 73 in the final earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
Top Wicket-Takers of the Tournament
Harsh Dubey (Vidarbha) was the standout bowler, breaking Bishan Singh Bedi’s long-standing record for most wickets in a Ranji Trophy season. The Vidarbha all-rounder claimed 69 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 16.98, with a best performance of 6/36. He secured seven five-wicket hauls and also contributed with the bat, scoring 476 runs, including five fifties. His all-round brilliance earned him the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award.
Auqib Nabi (Jammu and Kashmir) played a key role in his team’s quarterfinal run, picking up 44 wickets in eight matches at an average of 13.93. His best bowling figures of 6/53 and six five-wicket hauls made him one of the standout pacers in the tournament.
Shams Mulani (Mumbai) was instrumental in Mumbai’s semifinal run, taking 44 wickets in nine matches at an average of 23.52. His best figures of 6/85, along with three five-fors, highlighted his impact. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 365 runs in 12 innings at an average of 33.18, including a century and two fifties.
Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (Gujarat) was among the top spinners, finishing the tournament with 40 wickets in eight matches at an average of 20.85. His best bowling figures were 6/51, and he claimed three five-wicket hauls.
Jalaj Saxena (Kerala) once again showcased his value as one of domestic cricket’s premier all-rounders. While Kerala fell short in the final, Saxena delivered an impressive season with 40 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 22.55, including five five-wicket hauls. His best figures of 6/41 highlighted his bowling prowess. Additionally, he contributed 366 runs with the bat, averaging 33.27, with two fifties and a top score of 84.
