New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has announced tour of UAE in August this year where the national men’s senior team is set to play a three-T20I match series. The statement released by NZC confirmed that all three matches would be played under lights, with the team making a stopover in the UAE on their way to England for their white ball commitments.
This will be only the second time that New Zealand will play the UAE in a full international, with the first being the 1996 World Cup ODI between the two sides in Pakistan’s Faisalabad.

David White, the chief executive of New Zealand Cricket, expressed his delight at the prospect of the team playing against the UAE, saying that it was important for the global cricket community to keep supporting and growing the game on an international scale.
White further added that NZC had a close relationship with the Emirates Cricket Board, and that the players were well-acquainted with the environment. He believed that the BLACKCAPS would relish the opportunity to challenge themselves against a competitive UAE team.
Mubashshir Usmani, the General Secretary of the Emirates Cricket Board, praised New Zealand as one of the world’s top T20 sides, expressing his excitement about the series and looking forward to welcoming the team to the UAE.
“This series will be a massive opportunity for our players, to not only compete against a top team but also to learn from some of the best players in the world. We are fully committed to the growth and development of cricket in the UAE and we are thankful to New Zealand Cricket for their support,” said Usmani in statement released on Thursday.
