Punjab Kings (PBKS) made headlines at the Indian Premier League (IPL) Mega Auction on Sunday by securing their star left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for a staggering ₹18 crore. The move bolsters their bowling attack as they gear up for the upcoming season.
The official X account of Punjab Kings celebrated Arshdeep’s return with a lively post, “Ar-sssssshhhhhhh aa gaye oye!” accompanied by a special video message from the bowler. In the video, Arshdeep expressed his excitement, stating, “Punjab, Punjabi, Punjabiyat, I am very happy to be back with Punjab again. I hope this year we can win the trophy.”

Arshdeep Singh has been a pivotal player for Punjab Kings, delivering consistently since his debut. With 76 wickets in 65 IPL matches and best bowling figures of 5/32, his contributions have been invaluable. On the international stage, the left-arm seamer has also impressed, representing India in 60 T20Is and taking 95 wickets, including a best performance of 4/9.
PBKS entered the auction with a record-breaking purse of ₹110.5 crore, the largest among all teams, and made bold moves to assemble a formidable squad. One of their marquee acquisitions was Shreyas Iyer, this year’s IPL-winning captain with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Punjab Kings secured Iyer for ₹26.75 crore after an intense bidding war with Delhi Capitals, making him the second-highest-paid player in IPL history.
However, their aggressive bidding strategy meant PBKS had to carefully allocate their resources later in the auction. When Rishabh Pant’s name came up, PBKS refrained from entering a bidding war, opting to preserve their funds while other franchises competed fiercely for the wicketkeeper-batter.
