Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, often referred to as the ‘God of Cricket’, redefined the standards of the sport during his illustrious 25-year career. As a role model and benchmark for generations of cricketers, Tendulkar’s impact on the game remains unparalleled. To mark his 50th birthday on April 24, a special book titled Sachin@50 will be released, featuring essays and contributions from fellow cricketers, sports personalities, and celebrities.
“Sachin Tendulkar was my role model and inspiration. He was the benchmark,” said Rohit Sharma, as quoted in the book. Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, David Warner, and Michael Clarke, among others, also shared their admiration for Tendulkar in the commemorative publication.
Beyond his extraordinary run-scoring ability and 100 international centuries, Tendulkar’s flair and global popularity helped elevate Indian cricket to new heights. Before the advent of social media, he was a worldwide icon whose name resonated in cities from Sydney to Kingston.
The book Sachin@50 not only honors Tendulkar’s legendary career but also delves into his personal life with original essays and pieces by his wife Anjali Tendulkar and his brother and mentor, Ajit Tendulkar. Contributions from other sports figures such as Abhinav Bindra, Pullela Gopichand, Vishwanathan Anand, Sania Mirza, and Usha Uthup, as well as celebrities like Farhan Akhtar and Prahlad Kakkar, make this an extraordinary tribute to a true cricket legend.
