Seifert’s Quickfire Fifty Powers New Zealand to 7-Wicket Win Over South Africa in Zimbabwe Tri-Series

Tim Seifert’s explosive half-century and a disciplined bowling effort powered New Zealand to a convincing seven-wicket win over South Africa in the ongoing tri-nation series at Harare on Tuesday. With this victory, the Black Caps finished the group stage unbeaten and secured their spot in the final, where they will once again face South Africa. Hosts Zimbabwe were eliminated after failing to win a single match.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, New Zealand’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure on the Proteas batting lineup. South Africa were reduced to 79/5 by the 14th over, struggling to find momentum. Reeza Hendricks provided some stability with a 41-run knock off 37 balls, including four boundaries and a six. George Linde contributed a brisk 23* off 15 balls as South Africa posted 134/8 in 20 overs.

Adam Milne (2/21), skipper Mitchell Santner (2/26) and Jacob Duffy (2/33) were the standout bowlers for New Zealand, sharing six wickets among them.

In response, Seifert and Devon Conway set up a solid foundation with a 51-run opening partnership. Despite a couple of quick wickets, Seifert anchored the chase with an unbeaten 66 off 48 deliveries, featuring six fours and two sixes. Daryl Mitchell added 20* off 15 balls to guide New Zealand home with 25 balls to spare.

Senuran Muthusamy was the lone bright spot with the ball for South Africa, claiming 2/24. Seifert was adjudged Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.

The tri-series final is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, at Harare, where New Zealand will aim to maintain their unbeaten run while South Africa look for redemption.
