South Africa continued their remarkable run in Test cricket with a dominant innings and 236-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second Test at Bulawayo, completing a 2-0 series sweep. This win marked their 10th consecutive Test victory, setting a new national record and placing them fourth on the all-time list of most consecutive Test wins in the format.
The Proteas’ winning streak, which began in August 2024 with a 40-run triumph over the West Indies in Providence, has now extended across five different series, including their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final win against Australia at Lord’s. Their latest success puts them just behind the legendary West Indies side of 1984 (11 wins) and Australia’s historic runs of 16 consecutive victories achieved twice.

South Africa’s impressive streak includes six away wins, underlining their dominance across varying conditions. After their opening win in the Caribbean, they completed a 2-0 whitewash in Bangladesh and followed it with a home series sweep over Sri Lanka. A thrilling win over Pakistan in Centurion and a commanding 10-wicket victory in Cape Town added further momentum. Their eighth straight win came in the form of a WTC final triumph over Australia at Lord’s, arguably their most celebrated result of the run. They then eased past Zimbabwe with a massive win in the first Test and wrapped up the series in similar fashion in the second.
In Bulawayo, stand-in captain Wiaan Mulder delivered a performance for the ages. The all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 367 off 334 balls, laced with 49 fours and four sixes, recording a historic triple century as South Africa posted a mammoth 626/5 before declaring. Supporting contributions came from David Bedingham (82) and Lhuan-dre Pretorius (78), who helped build a massive total.
The bowlers then took center stage. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 170 in their first innings despite some resistance from Sean Williams, who remained unbeaten on 83 off 55 balls. Debutant spinner Prenelan Subrayen shone with figures of 4/42, while Mulder also chipped in with 2/20. South Africa enforced the follow-on and wrapped up the match quickly, dismissing Zimbabwe for 220 in the second innings. Nick Welch top-scored with 55, but Corbin Bosch (4/38) and Senuran Muthusamy (3/77) ensured there was no comeback.
