
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh recently advised the Indian team against traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, citing safety concerns amid the current circumstances in the country.

He highlighted that the relationship between the two nations is not as strong as it was during their last bilateral series.
The Asia Cup was initially scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan this year; however, due to India’s reluctance to visit the country, the tournament’s venue remains uncertain. In response, former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar suggested that Sri Lanka could host the 2023 Asia Cup if Pakistan is unable to do so.
Currently participating in the Legends League Masters in Qatar, Akhtar expressed his eagerness to see India and Pakistan compete in the finals of both the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
There has been speculation that India may pull out of the 2023 Asia Cup, which was assigned to Pakistan as the host country. In October 2022, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that India would not participate in the tournament if it were held in Pakistan.
The new venue for the Asia Cup will be determined during the Executive Board meeting of the ACC members in March or early April next month.
India’s most recent match against Pakistan took place at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, where India emerged victorious by four wickets.
