The All India Women’s Selection Committee has named wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry as a replacement for Yastika Bhatia in India’s squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia Women. The announcement came on Wednesday after Bhatia was ruled out due to a wrist injury.
Chetry, 22, made her T20I debut for India in July and has four appearances in the format. This marks her maiden call-up for ODIs, providing her with a significant opportunity to prove herself on the international stage.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Bhatia’s recovery is being closely monitored by the medical team.
In a surprising move, Shafali Verma has been left out of the squad due to her continued struggles with the bat. Other players missing from the squad include all-rounder Shreyanka Patil, spin-bowling all-rounder Hemalatha, and uncapped seamer Sayali Satghare.
The squad for the Australia series was finalized on November 19, marking significant changes as India aims to continue their strong ODI form.
India last played an ODI series against Australia Women at home in 2023, where Australia clean-swept the three-match series. This time, the series will be held in Australia, with matches scheduled at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on December 5 and 8, and the WACA Ground in Perth on December 11.
The series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, adding importance as teams vie for points in the tournament.
India enters the series after a 2-1 home victory against New Zealand Women in their most recent ODI assignment.
