UP Warriorz have brought in West Indies all-rounder Chinelle Henry as a replacement for Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy for the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025. Henry joins the franchise for Rs 30 lakh following Healy’s withdrawal due to injury.
Healy had announced after the one-off Women’s Ashes Test that she would not be participating in WPL Season 3. She had earlier missed the T20I leg of the Women’s Ashes series but returned to play the ODI matches. The Australian cricketer has been dealing with multiple injuries over the past five months, beginning with a plantar fascia rupture in her foot during the ICC T20 World Cup last October. This injury forced her to miss Australia’s final league game and semifinal against South Africa.

Her injury woes continued during the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), where she suffered a knee injury that ruled her out for the remainder of the tournament and the ODI series against India in December. Though she later returned to play as a specialist batter in the ODIs against New Zealand and the Women’s Ashes ODIs, she has now opted out of WPL 2025 to focus on her recovery.
Healy has been a key figure for UP Warriorz, leading the side to the playoffs in the inaugural WPL season and finishing fourth last season, narrowly missing out on qualification. In 17 WPL matches, she has accumulated 428 runs at an average of 26.75, including three half-centuries, with her best score being an unbeaten 96.
Her replacement, Chinelle Henry, brings valuable all-round capabilities to the squad. A crucial part of the West Indies lineup, she has played 62 T20Is, scoring 473 runs at an average of 14.78, with a top score of 43. She has also taken 22 wickets in the format. In ODIs, she has 559 runs from 49 matches at an average of 14.33, along with three half-centuries, and has also claimed 32 wickets.
The third season of the Women’s Premier League is set to commence on February 14, and UP Warriorz will be hoping Henry’s inclusion strengthens their squad as they aim for a strong campaign in WPL 2025.
