Cricket West Indies (CWI) has revealed its squad for the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025. Led by captain Samara Ramnath and vice-captain Asabi Callender, the 15-member squad features some of the most promising young talents from across the Caribbean, supported by five reserves.
Miles Bascombe, CWI Director of Cricket, emphasized the significance of the tournament for the development of women’s cricket in the region. “This squad exemplifies the emerging strength of women’s cricket in the Caribbean. The inclusion of players from across our territories underscores our commitment to nurturing talent and preparing them to compete at the highest level,” Bascombe said.

The U19 Women’s T20 World Cup will feature 16 teams, including Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, and West Indies, who qualified through their participation in the 2023 edition. Hosts Malaysia earned automatic qualification, while Nepal, Nigeria, Samoa, Scotland, and the United States secured their spots through regional qualifiers.
West Indies are placed in Group A alongside India, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. The group stage runs from January 19 to 23, with matches at multiple venues in Malaysia, including the Bayuemas Oval, where the final will take place on February 2. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 6 phase, where points and net run rates from the group stage will carry over.
The West Indies squad has undergone rigorous preparation, including specialized training camps at the Coolidge Cricket Ground and international tours. Head coach Robert Samuels expressed pride in the team’s commitment, stating, “Our young players have shown tremendous dedication and improvement. We are confident they will represent the West Indies with pride and demonstrate the bright future of women’s cricket in our region.”

The team will leave for Malaysia on January 1 and participate in a pre-tournament camp from January 5 to 10. They will also play two warm-up matches—against Nepal on January 13 and New Zealand on January 15—before beginning their campaign on January 19 against India.
