West Indies Name Squad For ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

The West Indies cricket team have announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. According to the ICC, the marquee tournament is set to begin on February 7, with teams finalising their preparations for the global event.

Two-time champions West Indies, who won the T20 World Cup titles in 2012 and 2016, will be led by experienced batter Shai Hope. The 32-year-old has been named captain for the tournament and makes his return to the T20I squad after missing the recent series against Afghanistan.

Hope made his T20 International debut against New Zealand in December 2017 and has since featured in 58 T20I matches, batting in 56 innings. He has scored 1403 runs at an average of 29.22 with a strike rate of 137.68. His record in the shortest format includes nine half-centuries and one century, making him one of the most dependable batters in the Caribbean lineup.

In addition to Hope, several senior players have also returned to strengthen the squad. Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd have all been recalled as West Indies look to add depth and balance with a mix of all-rounders, power hitters and pace options.

The squad announcement comes after a challenging outing against Afghanistan, where West Indies suffered a 2-1 defeat in a three-match T20I series. As part of their final preparations before the World Cup, the Caribbean side will face South Africa in a warm-up series to fine-tune combinations and match readiness.

West Indies have been placed in Group C for the tournament, where they will face England, Nepal, Italy and Scotland. Their campaign will begin against Scotland on February 7 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, a venue known for high-scoring matches and strong crowd support.

The West Indies squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 includes Shai Hope (captain), Shimron Hetmyer, Johnson Charles, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Quentin Sampson, Jayden Seales and Romario Shepherd.
