The dismissal of Litchfield for 25 and the subsequent departures of Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney put Australia in a precarious position at 78/4.
It was then that Sutherland took charge, forming crucial partnerships with Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath. Gardner contributed a well-paced 50, while Sutherland’s magnificent century (110 runs off 95 balls) propelled Australia to a formidable total of 298/6. Reddy was India’s most successful bowler, claiming four wickets.
Chasing a challenging target of 299, India lost early wickets, with Richa Ghosh departing for just 2 runs. However, Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol steadied the ship with a 118-run partnership. Deol’s patient 39-run knock was followed by Mandhana’s brilliant century (105 runs off 109 balls).
However, India’s momentum was halted by the disciplined bowling of Australia. The dismissal of Mandhana triggered a collapse, as India lost quick wickets and were eventually bowled out for 215 runs.
Ashleigh Gardner was the star bowler for Australia, taking five wickets and dismantling the Indian batting lineup. Alana King and Megan Schutt also contributed with two wickets each.
Annabel Sutherland’s all-round performance earned her the Player of the Match award. Her crucial century and wicket-taking ability were instrumental in Australia’s dominant victory.
