Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal has made history on Friday by scoring the most runs in a single IPL season by any uncapped player. This remarkable milestone was achieved during RR’s IPL 2023 clash against Punjab Kings at Dharamshala.

Jaiswal, a talented 21-year-old, continued his scorching form with a splendid innings of 50 runs off just 36 deliveries. His knock included eight fours, and he maintained an impressive strike rate of 138.69.

With his last match of the season, he completed 625 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 48.07. Jaiswal’s remarkable run includes one century and five half-centuries, with his highest score being a magnificent 124. Throughout the season, he has consistently scored at an impressive strike rate of 163.61.

In achieving this remarkable milestone, Jaiswal surpassed a longstanding record that had stood for 15 years. Previously held by Australian batsman Shaun Marsh, the record for the most runs by an uncapped player in IPL history was set during the IPL 2008 season. Marsh, who was yet to represent Australia and held the uncapped status, scored 616 runs in 11 matches, showcasing an astounding average of 68.44. He notched one century and five half-centuries during that season.

Among other notable performers, Indian batsman Ishan Kishan claimed the third spot on the list, having scored a total of 516 runs in the 2020 season. Kishan, also an uncapped player at the time, boasted an impressive average of 57.3 and registered four half-centuries, with his highest score being a tantalizing 99.

Suryakumar Yadav, a prominent player for the Mumbai Indians, occupied the fourth position with his tally of 512 runs in the 2018 season. With an average of 36.57 and a strike rate of 133.3, Yadav displayed his prowess with four half-centuries, and his best innings yielded an impressive 72 runs.

Joining the ranks of these stellar performers, Devdutt Padikkal secured a place on the list with his contribution of 473 runs during the 2020 IPL season. Representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Padikkal maintained an average of 31.5 and a strike rate of 124.8. He recorded five half-centuries during the season, showcasing his consistency and skill.
