The Cricket World Cup 2023 will see 10 teams this time each team playing the other team once before the knockout stage. A total of 48 matches will be played during this year World Cup. This includes 45 matches in the group stage followed by 2 semi finals and final. Based on standing in the points table, top 4 teams will proceed to the knockout or semi final stage which will be followed by the final match. The winner of the finals shall be crowned cricket world champions. England are the defending champions, having won the 2019 edition.
All teams play 9 matches and top 4 on the table advance to Knockout and finals.
India, as a host, is automatically qualified. Other 9 teams will qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023 based on World Cup Super League (2020 – 2023) (See current standings)
