South African pace sensation Kagiso Rabada expressed his excitement about joining the Gujarat Titans (GT) for the IPL 2025 season. Acquired for ₹10.75 crores in the IPL mega-auction, Rabada became one of the marquee signings for the one-time champions.
The bidding war for Rabada saw fierce competition between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who initiated the bid at ₹2 crore, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Gujarat Titans. Ultimately, the Titans secured the services of the Proteas pacer, adding significant strength to their bowling attack.

In a video shared on Gujarat Titans’ official social media, Rabada expressed his enthusiasm for joining the franchise. “Hey guys, this is KG here. I am so thrilled to be joining the Gujarat Titans family. I can’t wait to get into the camp, make some good memories, do my best, and also make some good friends too,” said the 28-year-old fast bowler.
Rabada’s credentials make him one of the most sought-after bowlers in T20 cricket. He has taken 71 wickets in 65 T20Is and was instrumental in South Africa’s run to the T20 World Cup finals this year, claiming 13 wickets in nine matches. Across global T20 leagues, Rabada has accumulated 264 wickets in 211 matches, cementing his reputation as a world-class pacer.
In the IPL, Rabada has been a consistent performer, previously representing Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). During his stint with DC from 2017 to 2021, he took 76 wickets in 50 matches, including winning the Purple Cap in 2020. With PBKS from 2022 to 2024, he claimed 41 wickets in 30 matches. Despite a quieter season in 2024, where he managed 11 wickets in 11 matches, Rabada’s overall IPL tally stands at an impressive 117 wickets in 80 matches.
GT’s director of cricket, Vikram Solanki, shared his satisfaction with the team’s auction performance. “We’re very happy with the team we’ve got. There’s a small number of players in these first two sets, and we played our part, according to our plan. The team is starting to take shape, but we still need to fill slots and be smart. Actually, a number of very good players come tomorrow as well,” Solanki said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
