Bangladesh Name Squad For First Test Against Pakistan, Include Two Uncapped Players

Bangladesh have announced a 15-member squad for their first Test against Pakistan, set to begin on May 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka as part of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship cycle.

Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead the side, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz named as vice-captain. The squad features a mix of experienced players and fresh faces as Bangladesh look to improve their position in the World Test Championship standings, where they are currently placed eighth.

Two uncapped players, Tanzid Hasan and Amite Hasan, have earned call-ups to the Test squad. Tanzid Hasan has already made a mark in white-ball cricket, having played 34 ODIs and 45 T20Is while scoring over 1900 runs across both formats. He will now aim to establish himself in the longer format.

Amite Hasan, a 24-year-old middle-order batter, has been rewarded for his strong domestic performances. He averages 49 in First-Class cricket since making his debut in 2019 and will be looking to make an impact at the international level.

Bangladesh have also welcomed back key pace bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, both returning to the Test setup after last featuring in late 2024. Spinner Naeem Hasan has also been recalled to strengthen the bowling unit.

The squad includes experienced names such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, and Mominul Haque, providing stability and depth to the batting lineup, along with a balanced bowling attack featuring Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam.
