AB de Villiers is all praise for Suryakumar Yadav shot selection & technique; He is pulling off shots that I never did

AB de Villiers has praised Yadav’s shot selection and technique acknowledging Yadav’s unique skills to execute shots that even he had never attempted during his illustrious career. De Villiers believes that Yadav’s biggest challenge will be consistency across all formats and to adapt his game to the demands of Test cricket, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20Is.

During a conversation with JioCinema on Home of Heroes, de Villiers expressed his admiration for Yadav’s batting madness, stating, “I think it’s incredible. I think he’s pulling off shots that I never did. I really do, when it gets going, it’s lovely to watch. I think he’s got a long way to go still. I think there’s more to come. I think there’s even a better player in the future, so that’s very exciting.”

Yadav’s performances in T20 cricket have been exceptional since his debut in 2021. In 46 T20I innings, he has scored 1,675 runs at an impressive average of over 46, including three centuries and 13 fifties. His strike rate of over 175 showcases his ability to score quickly and all around the ground.

While Yadav’s T20I numbers are impressive, he has yet to make a significant impact in Test and ODI cricket. He has not played any Test matches since his debut against Australia in Nagpur. In ODIs, Yadav struggled with three consecutive golden ducks against Australia before the Indian Premier League (IPL).
