BAN vs IND 2nd test preview: With crucial WTC points at stake, India eye clean sweep in Dhaka

India will look to win the series in Dhaka

After a rather comfortable win in the 1st test in Chattogram, Team India will look to complete a clean sweep of the series in the 2nd test in Dhaka. The chance of strengthening their grip on the 2nd spot in the WTC table should be an added motivation for KL Rahul’s men.

India produced an all-round performance in Chattogram, with most of the players contributing to the win one way or the other. Senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara made two vital contributions, while Shubman Gill scored his maiden test century. Shreyas Iyer continues to dig the team out of precarious situations and the Indian tail wagged for once.

Mohammad Siraj further strengthened his case for being India’s new-ball bowler, while Kuldeep was excellent on his return to test cricket.

With Rohit Sharma out of the test, KL Rahul will lead India and would like to have some runs under his belt before the crucial series against Australia. After a slight injury scare on the eve of the test, Rahul is good to go.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have plenty to ponder after a disappointing performance in Chattogram. They did manage to put India under pressure at various moments in the 1st test but failed to capitalize on them.

The experienced middle-order of Liton Das, Mushfiqur and Shakib will have to take responsibility and score the bulk of the runs. Shakib Al Hasan has been passed fit to bowl after he didn’t in the 2nd innings, confirmed by fast-bowling coach Allan Donald.

The pitch at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium has produced some rank-turners in the past and expect nothing to change on this occasion. Day 1 will be the easiest for the batsmen and the skipper who wins the toss should elect to bat first. The weather is expected to be dry and spinners on either side will have a huge role to play.
