England Test captain Ben Stokes has revealed why he will not be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, citing the need to manage his workload and prioritize his fitness. Stokes, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury since August, emphasized that he is in the later stages of his career and wants to focus on playing for England as long as possible.
Stokes, notably absent from the list of 1,574 players registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, spoke candidly about his decision in an interview with BBC Sport. “There’s so much cricket. I’m at the back-end of my career and want to play as long as I possibly can. Looking after my body and managing myself is key to that,” he said.
