Fortune Barishal emerged victorious in a thrilling match against the Chattogram Challengers on the opening day of the BPL’s Sylhet phase. The Challengers put up a strong batting effort, led by Afif Hossain’s 37 and Curtis Campher’s 45* off just 25 deliveries, to post a total of 168 for 6 wickets.
Barishal captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first, and his team started off well with an early wicket by Wasim Jr. However, Chattogram’s batsmen Unmukt Chand and Max O’Dowd managed to build a small partnership before Chand was dismissed.

O’Dowd and Afif then combined for a steadying partnership, but Barishal’s bowlers kept the pressure on. Unfortunately, the bowlers lost control in the death overs, conceding two wickets off no balls, which allowed Campher and Irfan Sukkur to score 57 runs in the final four overs to take the Challengers to a total of 168.
In response, Barishal got off to a strong start with Anamul Haque scoring 78 off 50 balls, including a fifty inside the powerplay. However, the team struggled in the middle, losing several quick wickets. But a crucial 21-ball partnership between Karim Janat (31 off 12) and Salman Hossain (18* off 14) helped them secure the win with just four balls remaining.
