“Can’t Wait for the Season to Begin” KL Rahul says after joining Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025

Star Indian cricketer KL Rahul is gearing up for a fresh chapter in his IPL career as he joins the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2025 season. Acquired for ₹14 crores after a competitive bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rahul will bring his experience as an opener, captain, and wicketkeeper-batter to the Delhi-based franchise.

In a video shared on Delhi Capitals’ official social media, the 32-year-old expressed his excitement about joining the team. “I am super happy to be joining the Delhi Capitals. A new journey begins for me, and I am super excited. The squad looks really good. Can’t wait for the season to begin and come to Delhi to play at the Kotla and entertain all of you. See you guys there,” Rahul said.

Rahul has been a consistent performer for India and various IPL teams over the years. Known for his versatility, he can adapt as an opener or middle-order batter and switch between anchoring and accelerating roles. In T20Is, he is India’s fourth-highest run-scorer, amassing 2,265 runs in 72 matches at an average of 37.75 and a strike rate of nearly 140. His international record includes two centuries and 22 fifties.

Rahul’s IPL career, which began in 2013, has seen him represent Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In 132 matches, he has scored 4,683 runs at an impressive average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61, including four centuries and 37 half-centuries.

During his stint with LSG since 2022, Rahul scored 1,410 runs at an average of 41.47, with a strike rate of 130.68. Despite his individual brilliance, he is yet to win an IPL title.
