Australian opener David Warner, who also plays for the Delhi Capitals, achieved a significant milestone on Saturday by crossing the 6,000-run mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He became the first foreign player and the third overall to reach this impressive figure.

This achievement came during the match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Warner played a crucial knock, scoring 65 runs off 55 balls in pursuit of a 200-run target. His innings featured seven boundaries, and he was dismissed lbw by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 19th over. Despite his 57th IPL half-century, Warner’s effort wasn’t enough to secure a win for his team.

Through his latest performance, Warner has now accumulated 6,039 runs in 165 IPL matches, boasting an average of 42.23 and a strike rate of 139.95. His IPL career includes four centuries and 57 half-centuries, with his highest score being 126.

Warner currently ranks third among the all-time highest run-scorers in the league. He trails Indian cricket stars Virat Kohli, who represents Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 6,727 runs in 225 matches, and Shikhar Dhawan, who plays for Punjab Kings and has scored 6,370 runs in 208 matches. Kohli has an average of 36.55 with five centuries and 45 half-centuries, while Dhawan’s average is 35.58 with two centuries and 48 half-centuries.

Other notable run-scorers following Warner include India and Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma (5,893 runs in 229 matches at an average of 30.22 with one century and 40 half-centuries) and India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran middle-order batsman Suresh Raina (5,528 runs in 205 matches at an average of 32.51 with one century and 39 half-centuries).
