Faf du Plessis Bids Farewell with emotional message to RCB after joining Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has penned an emotional farewell message to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after being signed by Delhi Capitals (DC) for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. DC acquired du Plessis at his base price of ₹2 crore during the recently concluded IPL mega auction.

Du Plessis, who captained RCB from 2022, reflected on his three-year journey with the franchise in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“As my chapter closes with RCB, I want to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible journey this has been. When I joined three years ago, I had no idea how this journey would unfold. But I fell in love with the city of Bengaluru and the amazing people of RCB,” he wrote.

“Playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been one of the most electric experiences of my career. The energy, the passion, and the support from the fans make it truly one of a kind. Thank you to the fans, my teammates, the staff, and coaches for making these three years so special,” the post added.

The 40-year-old expressed excitement about joining Delhi Capitals in a video shared on DC’s social media. “Always an honour and privilege to be a part of the IPL. I am super proud to once again be in the IPL, this time with the Delhi Capitals. Excited to add value to the team and looking forward to seeing you in March,” he said.

Du Plessis, a veteran in the T20 circuit, has scored 10,950 runs in 393 matches with six centuries and 76 half-centuries. During his time with RCB, he scored 1,636 runs in 45 matches at an average of 38.04 and a strike rate of almost 147.
